Today we tried out the new kite the kids got from their Gramma over her last visit.

Although yesterday we barely needed a jacket…

Exhibit A: Spring-like weather

Today it felt like we should be hibernating under heated blankets.

Nevertheless, Bebe H was super excited to learn to fly her new toy and insisted we brave the cold.

She tried with all of her might to run and run and run as fast as she could to get that thing up in the air.

She strategized. She considered.  She tried again.

Most of the time, though, it just dragged behind her.

She tried even more, digging up all of her enthusiasm to will it to work, a smile on her face up to the very end.

But then – her little face crumpled.  And a sob sprang out that broke my heart.

She’s only just three years old, so she has lots of time to practice (likely tomorrow), but this was so dreadfully disappointing for her.

Ahhhh, physics.  Why must you torture us so….
