My kids are still very small and curious and, well, not exactly very coordinated. And like most small kids (and big kids), they like arts and crafts and coloring and all of that sort of stuff.
Call me a mean mommy, but I usually don’t let them have markers and paint and glue and all of that messy sort of stuff, because – let’s face it. I don’t want to clean it up.
Thankfully they’re in pre-school so they get to work out their messy creative energy in a contained environment (again – which I don’t have to clean….).
Sure, they can have crayons and colored paper and most things that don’t spill so easily. But I generally keep the messy stuff put away.
However. This holiday they both got their own pack of colored markers and blank colored paper.
So I relented – for exactly 47 seconds.
And while I was showing my little daughter how to draw a heart on a the (very early) Valentine card she was making for her brother, her brother got creative on his own.
He said, and I quote, “Wook wike Papa.”
Of course I could have cleaned it off right away and put away the markers. But – no!
I went and got my camera instead for some classic real-life documentary pictures of this charming, silly, mustached little boy. (by the way, the marker was on his teeth too.)
This is the stuff that matters. Real moments that make you feel something – laughter, for instance. 🙂

And Hey! This picture can be found on an awesome blog along with a whole bunch more by some other fab photographers called Our Littles Collected. It’s published weekly, go on over and take a look 🙂
Lol that’s awesome!
hahahah! Funny, right!!! Lucky it washed off relatively easily…
Adorable. These memories recorded in both words and images are going to be treasured some day!
Thank you Gretchen! I’m considering maybe an album when I’m done. Hmmmm.. 😀
I hear you on the mess, but what an adorable little face!
Anelle! hahahha! And he was so proud of his naughty-ness! He knew he could get away with it, he’s got his mama wrapped around his tiny finger… 😉
being a mom of boys I can totally relate, I am glad I am not alone when it comes to not wanting to clean things up.
It is incredible what these little ones can do in just a few seconds. He is adorable!
I do the same time! So many times I think, “No, this is going to be more trouble than it’s worth,” and then I think of the photo ops 😉 Oh, and the memories too!
Haha this is too funny! Reminds me of my daughter when she took a sharpie and wrote H’s all over the living room and then when I asked her about it she said that her sister Haley did it, because they were H’s and H stands for Haley. Kids are too funny some times!
OMIGOODNESS!! what a little silly!! apparently he’s ready for a mustache 😛 LOL
How cute! He certainly put a smile on my face!
Cute image….and a great reminder to stop and remember the silly things kids do instead of getting upset at them.
Totally right, Jodi! It’s hard sometimes to remember to stop, but I knew that mess would be there in a few minutes – might as well get the shot… 😉
Wook wike papa…I LOVE IT!!!!!
He is the spit of Papa!
Yep I can relate to marker incidents. My daughter loves markers too!
