I left the studio pretty late last night and there was a storm coming.
Instead of heading straight home I drove out to find a decent clearing to see if I could catch some lightning. The weird part about this storm is that there wasn’t any rain or thunder (at first). I drove for probably 15-20 minutes total before finding the right place, and by then most of the lights had calmed down.
So I sat there in my car with my camera pointed out the open window, hoping nobody would think I was a stalker or something.
I kept waiting for the lightning, thinking I could catch something.
And WOW is that difficult! Our reflexes aren’t as fast as we think! (Or at least mine aren’t)
As soon as you register you’re seeing lightning, it’s already gone. (Sure, I photograph kids all the time, and they’re fast too, but wow!)
After many, many (many, many, many) attempts, I managed to catch a few things.
Check it out!
By the way, these are un-retouched, the sky really turned out purple, which I thought was pretty cool.
What do you think?
Ciao for now,
