While visiting Ann Arbor, Michigan this past weekend, I did a couple of photography sessions at my favorite local photo spot – Depot Town.
It’s a little old-fashioned strip of street with lots of old-style charm, which I’m totally looking forward to using for lots of shoots in the future.
But this post isn’t exactly about that place – it’s about a park I found hidden just steps from the street in Depot Town – Frog Island.
It was down a shady, tree-lined, secluded path just steps from the street. You’d never know it was even there. Honestly, this place is like a little gem – it was so cool to stumble on it while gearing up for my sessions that day.
One reason – check this out – on the edge of the park, tucked in to the tree line, completely unexpectedly, I found this.
A make-shift free library. With books that looked like they’d been placed there recently.
As in – this thing is in use – it’s not something that has just been sitting there forever ignored. It’s a functioning community installation. I was totally impressed. How cool is this?
