I always do my iheartfaces photo-a-day photos and blog posts on the same day, but today’s theme
made me think of one of my favorite photos from a shoot I did this past fall.
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these kiddos several times now, and it just keeps getting better and better.
I wanted to of course take some photos today for the theme, so I gave it a couple of tries. My first attempts were of our Majestic Gus on the back deck, enjoying the sunny morning (and the first non-freezing day we’ve had in a while). I layed down on the deck in my pajamas to get these photos. (My neighbors should be used to seeing me do things like this by now.)
Then it was indoors where I tried to catch the bebes playing in front of a window, with and without flash, just to see how it would work out. I didn’t have a lot of luck with that since our windows aren’t strategically placed, but I did catch Bebe H. bopping her bebe brother with the bouncy ball on the head. Luckily he’s a tough little guy.
I tried to get H to make some poses in front of the window in our front door, and that sort of worked for about 2 seconds before she turned it in to her own little dance party. (By the way, the music was all in her head. She’s cool like that.)
Seeing that I was occupied trying to take photos of them, the kiddos built a pillow mountain for some jumping. Then there was a little choo-choo action using one of my prop-stools. Pretty clever actually.
(oh, and there’s this little gem that happened in between some somersaults on the couch…)
Side note – looking through these photos I do acknowledge that my kids look nearly ferral. Perhaps it’s time for some good hair cuts. Or, you know, a brush.)
Finally, even though the sun was much higher in the sky, I thought I’d give it one last go outside with Gus. In order to get the backlighting effect I had to lay down flat on the deck and try to shoot him from underneath.
This is the one I submitted for the challenge today:
You can check out more of my photography experiments and lifestyle shoots by heading over to the blog roll or clicking on the links here – for instance – I’ve got my first beauty style shoot (aka, not a headshot, not a family shoot), a lifestyle sweet-tooth shoot, and a lifestyle photography post that’s all up-close and personal.
Ciao for now,
-Kate
